  FINAL REPORT

Wednesday 09 March 2011

The last day was a bit of an anti climax with the winners with the 2 sections virtually assured! The ladies section already had its winner, with the boys leader a point clear and only needing a draw! And seeing Roberto hadn't yet lost a single game, I don't think anyone thought he would start now! So it was just a fight for the minor places left really!  More...

  REPORT 5

Saturday 05 March 2011

Round 7 went well for South Africa with our main focus, Tshepang Tlale, winning her game quite easily. Many young players forget that is better to lose a rook for a minor piece than lose a minor piece for nothing! And that is what happened here. At one stage, Tshepang sacced the piece back tp pick up 2 pawns and open the black king, but black didn't take the piece. Easy win for Tshepang!  More...

  REPORT 4

Tuesday 01 March 2011

Day 5 is a thing of the past... I'm writing this report on the morning of day 6! round 7 has just begun! I was a bit on the ill side yesterday, so left my report a bit late!

Day 5 was a pretty good day for the South African team, with 1 result in particular! Now that we are also at the stage of only playing 1 game a day, things are a bit more relaxed this side.  More...

  REPORT 3

Thursday 03 February 2011

Day 4 has come to an end, with most players and officials relaxed refreshed after the days break we had! 2 long hard days were played on days 2 and 3... at least now we are just playing 1 game per day in the morning! With some big games coming up tomorrow morning (day 5), especially Tshepang's game which could decide where the title goes!  More...

  REPORT 2

Tuesday 01 March 2011

March is now upon us as I write this day 2 report. The weather outside is lovely, and the view from my room is now stunning since I have been moved to a new room!  Yesterday was a long day, with 2 games being played. And today will be no different. The schedule was changed to have 2 games played today, with the rest day tomorrow and thereafter just 1 game per day in the mornings. I was told the change was due to potential noise problems we might incur in the evening game later in the week! Something to do with the noise created when the Bulls win convincingly!  More...

  REPORT 1

Monday 28 February 2011

The African Juniors 2010 (postponed from Libya in December) is currently taking place in East London here in South Africa! I will attempt to write daily reports and have them uploaded for everyone to keep track of how the event and especially our South African stars are doing! I wont be attaching any games in particular as they are all posted on the website for your perusal, but I might bring your attention to some interesting games by our players!  More...
